Moving on, to the final stage of this project, my self-promotional posters. Where I took this opportunity to incorporate not only the designs I have produced in this module, but some fun elements to showcase my personality. Both posters, were created in Adobe Photoshop, using the process of sketching, line-work, block colouring and shading.

For my first poster, my initial concept was to focus less on my designs and more on key interests of my life. This included things like my cat, music posters and video-game memorabilia. However, when I moved into the mock-up of my final piece, I realised that the ratios of certain elements would leave the page looking busy. This allowed me an opportunity to streamline my design. Reducing the content meant I could increase the sizing of the sketchbook, making it a focal point. I didn’t completely scrap my initial concept, choosing to still incorporate elements like the posters, pencils and even a cup of tea. Despite this, I still chose to add my module designs to the sketchbook, rather than random illustrations, as I felt this looked more professional.

Wrapping up the project, with my final poster, I chose a more showcased approach. Unlike my previous poster, I stayed fairly true to my original concept, keeping several of my initial ideas. For this design, I chose to do a gallery wall, inspired by my own home. I wanted each unique frame, to showcase different artwork from both this module and my personal collection, really highlighting the promotional aspect. Of course I wanted to incorporate some fun components too. To add more depth to the bottom on the design, and help establish the ‘wall’ feature, I added a handful of things linked to my personality. This included a record-player, Starbucks, books and an item called a ‘Durr Burger’ from one of my favourite video-games.
Overall, both these pieces really reflect both my personality and art style. Incorporating both the professional and fun elements of my work.
